Description

Topic: Avian Ecology of the Southeast Farallon Islands

Featuring: Ned Bohman

Details:  Ned Bohman, Outreach Coordinator with the Great Basin Bird Observatory will speak about some of his recent experience volunteering on Southeast Farallon Island. While this is not necessarily a Nevada-related presentation, Southeast Farallon Island is an incredible landscape with much biodiversity. The Farallones are an oasis located in a different type of desert than typically seen in Nevada. Ned will talk about bird migration on the island, seals, sea lions, sharks, whales, salamanders and others.

About the Speaker:  Ned is the Great Basin Bird Observatory’s Outreach Coordinator. He grew up in Connecticut and earned a B.S in Wildlife Biology at the University of Vermont in 2012. Since earning his degree, Ned has worked on wildlife research projects all over the world, including tracking King Cobras in Thailand and banding Olive-sided Flycatchers in Alaska. He has helped out on a number of GBBO projects including Pinyon Jay Telemetry, restoration site monitoring at Las Vegas Wash, and point-count surveys throughout Nevada.
