Let's Go Birding Together Walk and Presentation at Rosewood Nature Study Area
07/11/2026 08:00 AM - 11:00 AM PT
Location
Reno, NV
Summary
Description: Please join the Northwest Nevada Bird Alliance for a community bird walk at the Rosewood Nature Study Area for our day of celebrating wetlands!
We will identify a variety of blackbirds, songbirds, raptors, and waterfowl that call this place home. This walk is open to people of all identities and all levels of birding (beginner, advanced etc.). Specifically, this walk welcomes members of the LGBTQIA+ community, allies, and family members who want to enjoy the outdoors together. We recognize that members of the LGBTQIA+ community have been historically excluded and underrepresented in birding and the outdoors. We want to change this and create a welcoming place where people of all identities can feel they belong.
Along the walk, we will spend time picking up trash along the river. Please bring gloves if you have them. Trash bags will be provided. Let's show solidarity with the River Justice movement, respect our downstream neighbors, and help make our cherished birding spots safe and clean for the wildlife we love!
After the walk, we will be inviting everyone in to explore the visitor's center and enjoy some light refreshments. Jaida will also give a special presentation about the importance of wetlands and restoration!
Leader: Jaida Marinas
Difficulty: Easy 1.5-2 miles on some even paved and some uneven dirt trails.
About FT Leader: Jaida is a UNR alumnus with a degree in Biology and a minor in Analytical Chemistry. Hobbies include baking, writing, and birding. Jaida has experience in environmental restoration and conservation and hopes to continue in that line of work in the future!
